In the concluding issue of Volume 25, the 25th anniversary celebration is again tempered by the reality of death grief. This time it is for the loss of a close comrade and friend, Peter Freund, who dedicated much of his work to our journal. This issue also features discussions on carbon forestry in Africa, the destruction of krill in Antarctica, struggles and mainstream mendacity in Sri Lanka and the lands of the Adivasi, and ideas about socialist democracy.
We pay tribute to comrade Frans Timmerman, and authors consider: the role of technical know-how in revolutionary futures, body and environment, degrowth and demonetisation, connections between climate change and revolution, red-green movement prospects in the People’s Republic of China, Maoism-based struggles against mining devastation in The Philippines, water commodification in Andean regions of South America, Canada as settler colonial reality.
In this issue, we grieve over the loss of Chokwe Lumumba and Luis Nieves Falcon. The matter of our animality and our animal relations is confronted, as the left seems still to have some troubles with it.
