_*_
In the concluding issue of Volume 25, the 25th anniversary celebration is again tempered by the reality of death grief. This time it is for the loss of a close comrade and friend, Peter Freund, who dedicated much of his work to our journal. We will deeply miss him. The last manuscript he contributed to the journal is included in this issue. The remaining issue features discussions on carbon forestry in Africa, the destruction of krill in Antarctica, struggles and mainstream mendacity in Sri Lanka and the lands of the Adivasi, and ideas about socialist democracy. Finally, the debate on the “simpler way” alternative continues from Issue 2. This year 2014 has been replete with wildly mixed emotions, from celebration to grief.
